Dallas Jesuit will open the 2012 season with a true road game.

School officials have announced that the Rangers will play Loyola Academy from outside of Chicago in Dublin, Ireland on August 31, 2012.  Last year the Rangers finished with a 6-5 record.  Loyola was 11-2 and lost in the Class 8A semifinals.

It's the second high school game that will be played in Dublin's Aviva Stadium as part of the Army-Notre Dame college football game.

Earlier this year, organizers of the game announced that Hamilton (AZ) will play Notre Dame High School (CA).

Texas State Representative Eddie Lucio III wants to improve football helmet safety.

One Monday the Texas House passed Lucio's bill (HB 675) that would ban football helmets after 15th year of use.  Currently there are no rules regarding the age of football helmets or how often they must be reconditioned.

Also under the Lucio's bill, helmets that are ten years or older, must be reconditioned at least once every two years.  In many cases, varsity helmets are handed-down to junior varsity and junior varsity teams.
