Texas High School Football Huddle
Emory Bellard, the man who is know invented of the "Wishbone" offense after leading Central High School to a Texas state football championship in 1966, has lost his battle with Lou Gehrig Disease at the age of 83.
Bellard left San Angelo in the spring of 1967 to become Texas' offensive coordinator. Bellard's offense powered the Longhorn's to two national titles.
In 21 years as a high school head coach, Bellard had a record of 177-59-9 with three state titles. The first two titles were when Bellard was the head man at Breckenridge.
