Texas High School Football Huddle
Aledo beat the Cavaliers 14-10 Friday night, giving Lake Tavis its first defeat since September 7, 2007 when it lost to Westlake. The American-Statesman reports that the Cavaliers actually had a 10-0 second quarter lead until it lost its quarterback Michael Brewer to injury.
Defending Class 5A Division II champ Abilene saw its 17-game win streak end with a 24-21 loss to Florida power Cocoa in the Texas vs. Florida Showcase in DeSoto.
Cocoa is now 3-0, also having beaten Pennsylvania-power Thomas Jefferson and defending Mississippi-champ Mount Olive. Cocoa has now won 27 straight games.
Sam Walter of the Abilene Reporter-News reports that Abilene was hurt by the loss of its star running back Herschel Sims.
